Hello,

a bit about me:

My name is Shelby Shupe, and I am a senior at Pima High School in Arizona. I've lived my entire life in Arizona, though I've moved all over the state in the eighteen years I've been alive. I've lived in nine different houses, and attended three different school districts as I've grown up. However, I've attended Pima the longest, and I will always consider myself a Pima Roughrider.

I'm the oldest of five kids in my family. I have wonderful parents who have always taken good care of me and made sure that I have everything I could possibly need. I have two sisters that are only a little bit younger than me. The first is named Tasia, and she is 16, and the second is Hallie, who is 15. Then there is a large gap before my mom had another child, the first son for my parents. His name is Ryker, and he is 9 years old. And finally, my youngest sister is Carsyn, who is 7. My brother is growing up surrounded by girls, but he seems to be okay with that.

My dad is a Highway Patrolman for the Department of Public Safety. Growing up with him as an influence, there are so many things I have learned that I may not have if he had any job other than the one he does. My dad deals with some pretty terrible people in his line of work, or even people that want to be better but can’t seem to get back on the right track. From my dad, I have learned that I should always do what I think is the right thing, and never fall to peer pressure. I’ve also learned the importance of honesty, and how much that can affect someone’s life. Plus, my dad is one of the hardest workers I have ever met. I try hard to be as dedicated and hard working as he is.

My mom has always been my supporter, making sure she is involved in all aspects of my life. My mom started me on all of my hobbies, and she’s been to every performance, game, or award’s ceremony that I’ve had. She has spent countless hours driving me to and from practices, working with me after my practice to make sure I have it down, and making sure I was enjoying all of the time I spent in my activities.

Growing up with two sisters so close in age to me wasn’t always fun. From the time we were toddlers, it has been hard learning to get along with them. All of our personalities are completely different, and it led to some super hard times. But in the end, my sisters are some of my best friends, and I wouldn’t trade them for the world.

My youngest siblings, Ryker and Carsyn, are another experience altogether. I’ve learned so much responsibility from being around them as they grew up. I was old enough to learn how to manage a child, and I babysat them very soon after Carsyn was born due to the age difference. There’s nothing like having a little child to have laughing in the house, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to have that fun with them.

My hobbies are dance, music, and travel. I’ve been in dance since I was four years old. I do tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, clogging, contemporary, and lyrical. I love dance, and it’s a great way for me to express myself. The same goes for music. I am a singer, and I love to play the piano. I can remember from my earliest life singing along to songs on the radio and feeling how much they affected me. I’ve used music as an outlet for hard times in my life, and it’s helped me get through so much.

Travel has always been one of the most exciting things in my life. Ever since I was little, my family would take spontaneous road trips to somewhere new. In my short life, I’ve visited 15 different States. I’ve toured cities, visited national parks, and gone to all four corners of the United States. It’s been one of my goals all my life to tour all fifty States. And eventually, I would like to take trips to places around the world.

I’ve been involved with leadership since I was young. The idea of helping others accomplish goals that really help them has always been inspiring to me, and it’s something that I feel I can really use my talents for. I like being involved, and making sure as many people as possible get their opinions heard. I’ve been able to participate in many leadership activities, and it’s always been fun.

I’m still young at 18 years, but I feel that I have accomplished a lot in my short life so far. I have many goals yet to accomplish, but I am pleased with what I have already done.
